Meet the Founder

Ishitha Panguluri, Senior at Freedom High School
I have witnessed first-hand the impact on educational equity a learning difference could have. It is ultimately this generation, our future leaders, to take action and make an impact in society.
Hello, I’m Ishitha Panguluri, the founder of My First Mentor, a project born out of the challenges presented by the pandemic during my freshman year of high school. Having personally experienced a lack of guidance throughout my academic journey, I recognized the need for a support system that could help students navigate both their studies and post-graduation paths.
My First Mentor began as a simple flyer and has since evolved into a global initiative with clubs spanning three countries: the United States, Canada, and India. Witnessing the impact of the organization’s growth has been immensely fulfilling. Our dedicated volunteers engage in a variety of activities, including peer-to-peer mentoring and specialized guidance on specific subjects.
I am committed to the overarching mission of My First Mentor, which is to address education inequity stemming from mental disabilities and learning challenges. Drawing from my personal experiences, I am determined to bridge the gap and provide the support that students like me desperately need.
With a fervor for coding, I initiated the “Mentor in Tech” program under the My First Mentor umbrella. This sub-program is dedicated to empowering women and students with disabilities in the field of technology. By combining my passion for coding with the organization’s mission, I aim to create a positive and inclusive impact on the lives of those facing unique challenges in their educational journey. Join me in building a more equitable and supportive educational environment for all.
